CONCEPT OF POPULATION
Concept of Population and
Population Education
Population Education
Education
plays a vital role to control the population growth. It helps to bring
different social changes in a country. Population education helps to maintain
quality of life, spend a happy and prosperous life(“Notes
on Concept of Population and Population Education | Grade 9 > Environment
Population and Health > Concept of Health, Population, and Environment
Education | KULLABS.COM,” n.d.). It helps in
getting knowledge of the causes and consequences of population growth and its
various effects. It studies various aspects of people's lives they are: sex
education, family planning, population statistics, etc.
Population
Education is the process of developing population awareness as well as rational
altitude and behavior towards the situation for the attainment of quality of
life, for the individual, the family, the community, the nation, and the world.

Importance of Population Education
Population growth and its harmful results in
the status of the environmental aspects are the great threats to the entire living
world. The main reason for the uncontrolled population growth is the lack of
awareness about population-related problems. Many people in our countries
are still having a large family. Population education is trying to bring
awareness among community people. The importance of population education is
given below:
Figure 2.Population
Creation of Awareness.
Lack of awareness is the main problem that leads to population increase. People
give undue emphasis on their son. They go on giving birth to too many babies. Population
education helps to create awareness by reducing such pretentious and injecting
the norms and values of a small family in the people. It helps to make rational
and Responsible Attitude Toward Population Situation.
Promotion of Quality of Life.
We cannot maintain the quality of life if the size of the family is large. The
needs, desires, and wants of family members cannot be fulfilled. Population
education not only teaches about the causes and consequences of population
growth but also about the ways of natural resources and achieve the quality of
life.
Development of Positive Attitude.
People of our society still believes in superstition. They take children as the
boon of God. They take the birth of a son as a compulsion. Population education
helps to establish a modern attitude toward such issues.
Insurance of Future Generation. The goal of population education is long term development and awareness. The main
reason for introducing population education at school level is to make the
future generation aware of such problems. It also provides information about
human sexuality, reproduction so that there will not found early marriage,
unwanted birth and so on.
